INDEPENDENT MAGAZINES

The magazines that belong to the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) are published by independent companies that have no relationship with either the industry or distribution of photographic or imaging products.

In this era of information technology, we at TIPA strongly believe in the power of traditional print magazines to keep people informed in depth. A magazine is a friend, a companion and a guide towards quality for both amateur as well as professional photographers. For one thing, you are able to link the information, advice, news and purchasing suggestions you receive in a magazine to a particular editor’s face. This creates a sense of trust and authenticity. In addition, you also have their full contact information. With the advent of digital technology, the benefits of print magazines as opposed to the Internet have proven to be more of an opportunity than a challenge.

Many TIPA magazines have launched their own websites, which are a completely different kind of media. However, in the case of TIPA publishers, these are perfectly integrated with the print magazine experience. When we asked our readers through our surveys whether print magazines or the Internet were the source they trusted the most, over 50% said “magazines” - and this was even higher when expensive or professional equipment was considered.
