The Camera Grand Prix is held by Camera Journal Press Club (CJPC, Japan), a group of representatives from magazines and websites specializing in photo and imaging products and news. The selection committee, organized under the auspices of CJPC’s Camera Grand Prix Executive Committee, deliberates and selects the best products for the awards from among those introduced into the market during the previous fiscal year.
The selection committee includes CJPC members, chief editors (or managing directors) of CJPC member publications, external members entrusted by Camera Grand Prix Executive Committee, and other special members such as academic experts, technical writers, professional photographers, and representatives from photo-related organizations.
As it has for many years, TIPA, the Technical Image Press Association, a worldwide association of photo- and imaging-related magazines and web sites, joined the Committee in the selection process by casting their votes for the Grand Prix awards during their General Assembly held in March, 2025. Likewise, Shibata Makoto, Camera Grand Prix 2025 Secretary General, joined the TIPA General Assembly to cast a vote for the TIPA World Awards.
Six Grand Prix awards were presented this year:
Camera of the Year: Canon EOS R1 
Lens of the Year: Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM 
Readers’ Award Camera: Canon EOS R5 Mark II 
Readers’ Award Lens: Canon RF70- 200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z 
Editors’ Choice R&D Award: Ricoh Imaging Pentax 17 
Editors’ Choice Technology Award: Nikon Z50 II
