TIPA Celebrated its XXVI Awards Ceremony during Photokina
Madrid, 26 September 2016
The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) successfully celebrated the XXVI edition of the TIPA Awards Ceremony on 20 September during Photokina, the world’s leading imaging fair, in Cologne, Germany. Members of the TIPA board welcomed representatives of the winning companies to collect their trophies. The winning products were selected by the TIPA members in the annual meeting of TIPA, held on 1 April 2016 in San Francisco, USA. During the ceremony the bronze trophies, based on the TIPA logo, were presented for the 40 winning products. The awards ceremony is kindly sponsored by Kölnmesse.
At the TIPA annual meeting representatives of the member magazines and the Camera Journal Press Club (CJPC) of Japan voted for the best products in the 40 categories. They also voted to accept Photo District News and Rangefinder magazines, from the USA, and Photo Solution from Canada as new members of TIPA. There are now 30 member magazines from eight European countries plus Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, South Africa and the USA. The CJPC of Japan and TIPA cooperate to vote for the best products for the TIPA awards and the Japanese Camera Grand Prix.
Thomas Gerwers, the TIPA Chairman said:
– All of TIPA’s activities have been made possible through TIPA’s collective network of recognised and popular magazines that stretches across five continents. Each magazine reflects its readers and the “national” vision of photography. The mix of experiences, cultures and perspectives make up the richness of TIPA as the only global organisation of its kind.
TIPA was founded in Paris on 16 April 1991 as an association of European photo and imaging magazines. At the annual meeting in 2009, held in Budapest, Hungary, TIPA members voted to transform the association from European into a global organisation.
