TIPA Readership Survey Prize Draw Winners Announced
Magazine Loyalty and Incentives Drew Worldwide Reader Response

Madrid, 4 May 2017

The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has announced the winners of prizes offered to readers who participated in the worldwide TIPA Readership Survey, results of which were published in April, 2017 and are currently available on the TIPA website (www.tipa.com). The survey was conducted by the independent and highly respected Research Institute for Press Research and Media Advice and published in member magazines and posted on the web, with readers responding by mail and online.

An independent notary in Madrid, Spain oversaw the drawing from all submitted surveys on 28 April, 2017 and the three prizes were awarded. Reflecting the worldwide reach of TIPA member magazines, the winners, their respective magazines, and prizes are:

Gáti Ferenc, Budapest, Hungary, Digitalis Foto Magazine (Nikon D500)
Dana Fernandez, Texas, USA, Rangefinder Magazine (Pentax K-1)
Michael Zehntner, Bavaria, Germany, FOTO HITS (Sony α7R II)

Among crucial topics covered in the survey were reader profiles and photographic engagement, types of equipment used, intention to buy, influence of member magazine editorial on buying decisions, reader sources of information about new products and technology, and the influence on readers and the public at large of the annual TIPA Awards when making purchasing decisions.

Said Thomas Gerwers, Chairman of TIPA, “We have been conducting this extensive survey among readers of our member magazines since 2005, and feel it is important to thank participants for the time and energy they put into completing it. The results are a strong indication of the loyalty readers have to our member publications, to the importance they place in the annual TIPA Awards, and serve as a mirror held up to the photo community at large, a very important matter in terms of the challenges it faces and the opportunities ahead.“
